Welcome to another monthly recap post! I’ve decided to revive these because I think they’re fun. June was an action-packed month, with tons of reading, work updates, and most importantly, the arrival of our PUPPY! 😍
The insanity of my June schedule really did a number on my reading and reviewing, and I only read 9 books throughout the entire month. 4 of those books were ARCs, 4 were from the library, and 1 was an audiobook from my Audible library. My favourite reads were Trail of Lightning, The Kiss Quotient, A Perilous Undertaking, and Barbed Wire Heart (review to come).
For those of you who didn’t see me chatting about it on twitter, I’ve recently started a new job! For the past six months, I’ve been the Data and Outreach Librarian for Olivetti Group, a materials science lab at MIT. My duties are varied but most of my work involves creating STEM instructional content for high schoolers based on the lab’s research. It’s quite a departure from the previous jobs I’ve held, but I’m loving the challenge. The best thing about the work I’m doing is being able to bring cutting-edge scientific research to underprivileged students, which makes me feel like all the hard work is 100% worth it.
And last but certainly not least, my guy and I brought our puppy home on June 3rd! Her name is Freya, and she’s a soft-coated wheaten terrier. She’s 12 weeks old and the light of my life. Freya is also a little demon, but that’s puppies for you. Having her at home has completely changed our routine and schedule, like getting up around 5:00 every morning. But the sacrifices are worth it for this face!
My major plans for July include tackling a new project at work on manufacturing scalability, reading more, and taking Freya to her first puppy class! That baby bear needs to socialize with other pups so she can make some buds — and so we can get a bit of a break.
