THESE BROKEN STARS by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner is everything I normally love about YA romance: dual POVs with distinct narrative voices, nuanced characters, and my beloved friends-to-lovers trope. If I were to review the first 60% of the book, I would give it 4 stars and call it a day…but sadly I thought the last half of the book was a hot mess.
There are few authors out there that I know I can turn to when I need a great book – wife and husband team Ilona Andrews is one of them. And with BURN FOR ME, the first title in their new Hidden Legacy series, they do not disappoint.
Although though I’ve only read about two instalments in the October Daye series so far, I already know that I’m in it for the long haul…even though A LOCAL HABITATION didn’t quite live up to my expectations.
Anyone who regularly reads my blog is probably aware of my undying love for Kelley Armstrong, and it all began with her Women of the Otherworld series, so imagine my glee at receiving a copy of OTHERWORLD NIGHTS!

A diverse adult fantasy set in an alternate China, THE SCROLL OF YEARS by Chris Willrich is a wonderful addition to any fantasy fan’s shelves.
Jay Kristoff’s Japanese-inspired steampunk novel STORMDANCER starts off shaky, but by the end of the book I was on the edge of my seat and desperate for more.
Mary Robinette Kowal’s Hug0-winning novelette THE LADY ASTRONAUT OF MARS is a heartwrenching and beautifully written story about the complicated realities of growing older and chasing your dreams.
Patrick Swenson’s debut novel THE ULTRA THIN MAN takes us on a wild ride through space – but unfortunately it didn’t work for me.
