Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. The weekly event is meant to showcase eagerly anticipated upcoming releases…and to spread the word! This week I’m excited about:

This Savage Song Victoria SchwabThis Savage Song by Victoria Schwab (Monsters of Verity #1)

Genre: YA, Fantasy

Publisher: Greenwillow Books

Anticipated Publication Date: June 7, 2016

The city of Verity has been overrun with monsters, born from the worst of human evil. In North Verity, the Corsai and the Malchai run free. Under the rule of Callum Harker, the monsters kill any human who has not paid for protection. In the South, Henry Flynn hunts the monsters who cross the border into his territory, aided by the most dangerous and darkest monsters of them all—the Sunai, dark creatures who use music to steal their victim’s souls.

As one of only three Sunai in existence, August Flynn has always wanted to play a bigger role in the war between the north and the south. When the chance arises to keep an eye on Kate Harker, daughter of the leader of North Verity, August jumps on it.
When Kate discovers August’s secret, the pair find themselves running for their lives and battling monsters from both sides of the wall. As the city dissolves into chaos, it’s up to them to foster a peace between monsters and humans.

A unique, fast-paced adventure that looks at the monsters we face every day—including the monster within.

*unintelligible screeching noises* Monsters, dual POVs, and music that steals souls? Sign me the hell up!

I feel like I’m the last person to hear about THIS SAVAGE SONG, but when I saw some friends discussing it on Twitter I thought it would be the perfect Waiting on Wednesday post. Victoria/V.E. Schwab has been on my author watch-list for so long now and I even own a couple of her books – but I still have yet to read any of them. Fingers crossed that I’ll read at least one before this book releases!

Have you read anything by Victoria/V.E. Schwab? Are you planning to read THIS SAVAGE SONG? Inquiring minds want to know!

  1. Wow, Victoria Schwab is on fire right now! I hadn’t heard of this new one by her either.

    1. Yeah, she’s all over the place! I’m really excited to find out what all the hype’s about. 🙂

  2. AWESOME choice!! I love Schwab and I’m excited to see something new from her, especially a new series.

    1. Thank you!!! Even though I’ve not read anything by her yet, I’m really excited to hear that she has a new series coming out, especially a YA series.

I own one of her books, too (and haven’t read it yet). This sounds good and I hadn’t heard of it yet.

    1. I’m glad to hear that I wasn’t the only one who had yet to hear about This Savage Song! 🙂 I often feel like I’m behind the times, especially when it comes to YA.

  3. I’m looking forward to this too! I’ve only read the books she’s written under V.E. Schwab (her more adult oriented books) so I’m very curious about her YA!

    1. I’ve heard very good things about her YA too. Her series The Archived gets a lot of love – I really want to read it because hello, it’s about libraries! 😀

This does sound good! I’ve read Vicious and have Darker Shade of Magic (shame on me for not reading it yet!) will have to check this out as well

    1. Shame on me for not having read Vicious yet! I’m really going to try to make time for it this month, since I have a couple weeks off from classes at the end of December.

  4. Nope, don’t worry, you’re not the last one to hear about this book because I am. I have seriously heard nothing about this book, until now. Where have I been? This sounds amazing! I want it now, this is what I want to be reading right now. I hate finding out about books months before their release date, but at the same time I love having books to look forward to. Hopefully, by the time this is out I won’t have a mountain of books to get through, maybe it will have become a small hill or even a slight incline (you know, to go with the mountain thing? No? I know, I take things too far). Anyway, thank you for letting those of us still in the dark know about this book, I seriously need to keep a closer eye on Schwab’s upcoming books it seems.

    1. Phew, what a relief! 😉 Haha in all seriousness though, I’m always so behind the times when it comes to new and exciting books, so it’s nice to be ahead of the curve for once.

LOL yes, a small incline would be awesome! Somehow I don’t think my TBR will ever become that manageable, sadly. But then again, having too many good books to read is a nice problem to have! Happy to be of service spreading the word, haha.

I also haven’t yet read this author. But I will do eventually!
    Lynn 😀

    1. Haha same! Hopefully I will finally (finally!) read my copy of Vicious in 2016.
