Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. The weekly event is meant to showcase eagerly anticipated upcoming releases…and to spread the word! This week I’m excited about:

Reign of Shadows by Sophie JordanReign of Shadows by Sophie Jordan

Genre: Fantasy, YA

Publisher: Harper Teen

Anticipated Publication Date: February 9, 2016

Seventeen years ago, an eclipse cloaked the kingdom of Relhok in perpetual darkness. In the chaos, an evil chancellor murdered the king and queen and seized their throne. Luna, Relhok’s lost princess, has been hiding in a tower ever since. Luna’s survival depends on the world believing she is dead.

But that doesn’t stop Luna from wanting more. When she meets Fowler, a mysterious archer braving the woods outside her tower, Luna is drawn to him despite the risk. When the tower is attacked, Luna and Fowler escape together. But this world of darkness is more treacherous than Luna ever realized.

With every threat stacked against them, Luna and Fowler find solace in each other. But with secrets still unspoken between them, falling in love might be their most dangerous journey yet.

With lush writing and a star–crossed romance, Reign of Shadows is Sophie Jordan at her best.

The cover for Sophie Jordan’s REIGN OF SHADOWS was just released on Epic Reads this past week, and it is gorgeous. Definitely a book I’d want on my shelves. Hats off to cover designer Michelle Taormina! From the synopsis I can’t quite decide if this one’s going to be a fairytale retelling or not. It certainly sounds like it has a Rapunzel vibe to it, but the only way to know is to read it (or wait until closer to the publication date!).

This has everything I could possibly want in a YA fantasy, aside from my beloved girl disguised as a boy trope. Curses, Princesses, secretive archer dudes. Yes please! While I’ve been burned before by seemingly badass-sounding YA fantasy romances, I’ve read quite a few of Sophie Jordan’s adult work and I really liked it. Hopefully REIGN OF SHADOWS is just as awesome as it sounds!

What do you think of that cover art? Gorgeous, right? Will you be reading Sophie Jordan’s latest planned YA?
